A Rare and Sought-after Car Plate Adds Intrinsic Worth
To ensure proper identification, all vehicles in Singapore must display a Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) on both the front and rear license plates.
Some car owners view their car number plates as a mere legal obligation imposed by Singapore’s Land Transport Authority (LTA). Conversely, some drivers consider them considerable worth and are prepared to invest money in acquiring a distinctive number plate.

Why bother spending so much on a car registration plate? Understanding why you’re buying it will help you select the perfect number. Numerous factors can impact the choice of a specific number. For certain individuals, the car plate number symbolizes their identity or carries significant meaning, such as matching it with one’s birthday, birth year, wedding date, company establishment date, house unit number, personal lucky number, sentimental attachments, or simply standing out from the crowd.
Unlike vehicles in Singapore that lose value over the years, VRNs retain their worth unaffectedly or, in the best-case scenario, their value increases. You can keep the VRN for your future vehicle or transfer it to another person upon selling the current one. The increasing affluence of locals has driven up prices for exclusive and distinctive VRNs. In our perspective, possessing a highly coveted car plate that is scarce in supply makes it an investment with inherent value.
